Reverse osmosis water systems offer the ultimate in water purity
and convenience. This system uses a sequence of filters in a compact
design to virtually eliminate dissolved solids and chemicals in your water.
The result is clean, great tasting water at a fraction of the cost of bottled water.
All of the equipment can easily fit under your sink, or to save space it may be mounted in the basement
with the product water line fed through the floor up to the sink. The product water is delivered through
a seperate faucet for easy use. The filtered water can also be delivered through an ice-maker system on
a refrigerator for a continuous source of chilled water and ice.
The feed water through a typical reverse osmosis system first passes through a fine cartridge filter
which traps any sediment greater than 5 microns. A micron is approximately one thousand
times smaller than the eye of a needle. This effectively removes any sediment or turbidity
present in the water. The water then passes through an activated carbon filter. This filter
will remove chlorine, taste, odor, and some organic contaminants. Stage three is the heart of the
system. The water flows across the membrane with a portion of the feed permeating the membrane.
The water that is rejected sweeps parallel to the membrane and is flushed to drain without being filtered.
The clean water goes into a pressurized vessel until it is required for use. When the faucet is opened the clean water
then passes through a final polishing filter made up of activated carbon before it flows out of the faucet.
